Meeting someone new from Note.com
Exceeding Expectations!
This is my second encounter meeting a fellow blogger face to face from Note.com. It is nice to put a face to a name. Join me as I tell you the tale.
Introduction: Meeting Someone New
When you hear the word “blogger,” who or what comes to mind?
Is it someone writing articles for a living? A student learning new skills? A stay-at-home parent keeping a diary? An elderly person sharing memoirs?
Do you picture them in a newsroom, writing about trends or gossip with tight deadlines? Or at home, typing on a computer with a glass of wine, either late at night or, better yet, early in the morning? Maybe on a train, jotting down thoughts on a smartphone while a sleepy neighbor drools on their shoulder?
Have you ever wondered why they blog? Is it for fun? For business? For a modern version of scrapbooking? Or for the adrenalin rush of gaining likes and followers?
Bloggers are diverse as fishes in the seas.
But one thing is consistent: blogging is a solitary activity. It’s where one person writes for an unseen audience, sharing thoughts, experiences, and knowledge with people they may never meet. This can be both rewarding and challenging. It allows for personal expression but can also feel isolating, as the writer often works alone without immediate feedback or interaction.
However, recent events have changed my view of bloggers, especially on Note.com.
Note.com is building a community. Bloggers unite under common themes or magazines, share each other’s content with praise, and support one another. There’s movement within the community to achieve common goals. I didn’t see this kind of activity on “Ameba.” It’s heartwarming and genuine, which moves me deeply.
The solitary life of a blogger then changes. It becomes a shared experience, like a living book that writes itself with each individual’s contribution. It becomes a family in a sense. It’s remarkable.
Because of this community, I’ve been fortunate to meet not just one fellow blogger face-to-face, but now two! My previous encounter can be found in this article.
This wouldn’t have been possible on a typical blogging site. And for this, I am grateful.
Let me introduce you to KyotoK, fellow blogger, and now my new friend.
Who is KyotoK from Note.com?
KyotoK is an impressive lady. She is an office worker and part-time content creator. She has a passion for what she does. Everything about her strikes me as genuine, comprised of dignity, intelligence, and grace.
She has travelled afar to many places and had been stationed overseas for many years, helping people from various countries and cultures. Her English ability enabled her to befriend fellow coworkers and facilitate good business practices amongst her peers. With her personality, I am sure she was an invaluable asset to all of the companies she has worked for and a pleasure to work with.
Speaking of jobs, she has done many different kinds of work. Marketing and Radio DJ were the ones that stood out to me, as I am a new content creator.
KyotoK is currently building a community within Note. This community is comprised of individuals who want to contribute content that promotes happiness and well-being with genuine passion. As she is relatively new to Note, her ambition is high, but I have full confidence that she will succeed in her endeavors. Who wouldn’t want someone to be supportive and encouraging of your content with friendly enthusiasm?
Simply put, KyotoK carries sunshine and positivity wherever she goes.
How and Why did we Meet?
We started to comment on each other’s content.
I was attracted to her stories because they were varied and genuine (she doesn’t use AI to generate her thoughts). Her content is about everything and anything. Also, it wasn’t preaching best practices or advice, which tends to be a turn-off for me.
She seemed to like my content for what it is. Perhaps we are kindred spirits?
A month or two later, we decided to meet on Zoom.
What were my expectations?
Going into the Zoom meeting, I was initially very nervous. My worry stemmed from meeting a person whom was likely going to criticize my content. I knew she came from a marketing background and has more experience in content creation than myself.
You see, the previous articles I made were full of emotion. KyotoK hinted that I might have made some poor choices and wanted to talk to me about them. She was just being her genuine caring self.
In essence, these articles were about me venting my frustration concerning general trends in the blogging community and stepping on Ameba. Additionally, I had made my first YouTube video, reviewing a product in both Japanese and English, which was also a stressful endeavor.
I was emotional and sensitive at the time.
To be honest, I had no expectations of her. In truth, I was just worried about what mistakes I might have done that would irreparably damage my budding reputation on Note.com. I suppose you could say, this added a bit of stress that was not warranted.
What did we talk about?
We talked about everything else! I think we mentioned the previous articles in passing, but they were only a side note. In truth, we just talked and talked. We were so engrossed in our conversation, time passed quickly without us even realizing it. I am sure we could have conversed about whatever came to mind for hours! I forgot a lot of it to be honest because I felt we didn’t have an agenda, no notes were taken, and it was just pleasant small-talk.
As mentioned in KyotoK’s recent article about our encounter, we could anticipate each others thoughts and words. It was a truly refreshing experience.
In Summary: Meeting Someone New
As stated earlier, it can be lonely composing content for the faceless masses. KyotoK filled that void of loneliness I was feeling at the time. Having someone to connect with on a personal level has made this experience much more fulfilling. The societal function of family and community really comes to mind now.
KyotoK is a special person. She helped me through my recent difficult time with kind words and encouragement. She seemed genuinely considerate of my well-being. Although I may not be able to participate actively as a member in her community because of my current workload and responsibilities, I am looking forward to reading its content and contributing where and when I can. I am also excited to talk with her again on Zoom when we get the chance.
A new friend has been found.
In the end, I believe there will be more opportunities to meet people from Note. Who’s next?
The bigger world becomes smaller and a happier place to live in.
